Cheyenne, WY
Cheyenne is Wyoming’s state capitol and the state’s largest city, maintaining a population of around 53,000. Among Cheyenne’s many attractions is Cheyenne Frontier Days, the largest outdoor rodeo in the world. The State of Wyoming, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, and the Union Pacific Railroad are major employers for the city. Cheyenne is a hotbed for wind energy development, which has brought new business and ideas to the area.
Big-city amenities are a short jaunt away. Cheyenne (located 7 miles north of the Colorado border) is 35 miles north of Fort Collins, CO (home to Colorado State University and world-class local breweries), and 100 miles north of Denver, CO (home of major professional sports, universities, arts, and dining). Curt Gowdy State Park, which contains two reservoirs and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, is just to the east of town, and Colorado’s world renowned ski resorts are under 3 hours away.
