The City of Lockport is located 25 miles from Chicago and has a population of 25,000. Lockport is rich in history and architecture and is known as “The Old Canal Town.” The I&M Canal was the first navigable passage to the Mississippi River, and I&M headquarters building now houses the canal museum. The Gaylord Building, built in 1837 to store canal construction materials, also operates as a museum.
For those seeking big city amenities, Chicago is just down the road. The city, which abuts Lake Michigan, is home to a beautiful waterfront; the world renowned Art Institute of Chicago; the Chicago Mercantile Exchange; the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Fire; and an eclectic mix of food and culture.
