Our People
Geologist
Typical Day
As geologists, we conduct business with clients, analyze field data, prepare graphs and figures, review project notes and data, attend project meetings, and prepare and edit reports. Furthermore, we are involved with internal geology working groups and various local and state geological initiatives. Our projects vary in scope, and we employ a variety of personnel with a range of different environmental experience to promote cross-sharing of information.
Typical Field Day
We conduct geological investigations, oversee drilling projects, install monitoring wells, and sample various media, including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air. These project tasks require in-depth knowledge of drilling procedures, drilling safety, subsurface sample procedures, lithologic logging, well construction procedures, field data collection and documentation, supervising and working with subcontractors, and general troubleshooting. Drilling and soil sampling activities also require familiarity with a variety of pieces of monitoring equipment, including organic vapor analyzers, explosimeters, water quality meters, and oil-water interface instruments. Our geologists also perform surface geophysical tests, downhole geophysical tests, and aquifer tests.
Travel
Many of us spend 30-40% of our time traveling.
College Education
We are required to have a BS in Geology or Earth Science, and many of us have earned a Professional Geologist license.
