The University of Wyoming sought funding from the Wyoming legislature to construct a major expansion to the College of Business (COB). The renovation and eastward expansion will bring together all departments of the college, which are now in two different locations, into one site. The project includes a complete renovation to the existing 62,000 square-foot building built in 1960 and an addition of 103,000 square feet adjacent to the existing building. Groundbreaking for the construction on the expansion occurred in July 2008. Construction is scheduled to be completed in fall 2010.
Trihydro is providing professional engineering services, including site and stormwater management design, and utility infrastructure planning, design and cost estimating, to support the development of the COB for a silver LEED rating. The stormwater management plan will incorporate a vegetated swale to direct surface water runoff into a rain garden. The rain garden design will provide water quality treatment in conjunction with dampening the peak discharge to the City of Laramie’s stormwater collection system. The project also required the design for the water main relocation currently located within the proposed building’s footprint.
