Water and Natural Resources

Project Name: Board of Public Utilities Environmental Assessments

Project Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming

Services Provided:

  • NEPA permitting and compliance
  • Wetland permitting and delineation
  • Watershed management and source water protection

Trihydro was contracted by the City of Cheyenne to prepare two Environmental Assessments (EAs) compliant with NEPA. The EAs investigated the short- and long-term impacts of surface water conveyance and storage in several important trout fisheries streams in Wyoming, including the Little Snake River, the North Platte River, and Crow Creek. This water is critical for Cheyenne because it serves as the primary domestic and industrial water supply for the current and projected population and development. The two EAs described the effects that the Proposed Action and No Action alternatives had on each component of the affected environment, including  fisheries, vegetation, wildlife, wetlands, water resources, socioeconomics, land use, recreation, environmental justice, cultural resources, and Indian trust assets. Through a proper and thorough assessment, the project team submitted the EAs on behalf of the City of Cheyenne and the lead federal agency determined a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and approved the Proposed Action.
