Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL) Investigation

Leading clients to achievable LNAPL recovery and remediation goals.

Light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL), such as oil and gasoline (hydrocarbons), are minimally soluble in water and can create environmental impacts at a variety of industrial facilities, including many refineries. It's vitally important to employ LNAPL remediation procedures to ensure proper site cleanup.

Trihydro utilizes the most current scientific and field techniques to effectively characterize and mitigate LNAPL impacts at petroleum-related sites. We have instituted investigative methods that allow us to characterize these impacts on a fine scale, which is highly beneficial for understanding site subtleties. Our knowledge of groundwater flow regimes and risk assessment also leads to realistic, achievable LNAPL remediation goals.

Perhaps the most essential component in determining effective LNAPL mitigation strategies is the use of 3-D modeling. With our modeling technologies, we are able to more effectively understand plume morphologies, calculate volumes based on regulatory thresholds, and visualize LNAPL distribution.

Our experience with LNAPL remediation and management includes the installation of aboveground and in situ technologies. Furthermore, we are able to evaluate the feasibility and practicability of implementing specific technologies for mitigating LNAPL impacts. Our success is also demonstrated by our work in analyzing remedial technologies for the USEPA's Remediation Technologies Development Forum (RTDF).
