Petroleum/Petrochemical
Trihydro has been rigorously involved in projects at both operating and closed petroleum and petrochemical plants since the company’s inception in 1984. Current projects include plant decommissioning oversight, all phases of RCRA Corrective Action, wastewater treatment, groundwater monitoring and remediation, hazardous and nonhazardous waste permitting and management, and air quality compliance and monitoring numerous facilities around the country.
Petroleum/petrochemical plant projects are typically multifaceted and large in terms of scope and land area. Our extensive petroleum/petrochemical plant experience has allowed us to develop a high level of expertise in rapid characterization of large areas potentially impacted by multiple sources and constituents. In addition, Trihydro has designed and implemented large-scale remediation projects, addressing impacts covering literally thousands of acres, at individual refineries. These projects have involved a number of different technologies including free-phase hydrocarbon recovery, groundwater recovery and treatment, large-scale vapor extraction/treatment, various methods of in-situ remediation/stabilizing, containment walls, and monitored natural attenuation.
Beyond sheer magnitude, petroleum/petrochemical plant projects often also include a complicated maze of regulatory requirements and, especially in the case of operating refineries, a demanding work environment in terms of health and safety and a very low tolerance for disruptions to operations. Trihydro’s staff includes professionals with over 20 years of experience with petroleum/petrochemical plant-related regulations, as well as field staff highly experienced in working under the stringent health and safety regimes typical at such facilities.
