Trihydro Saves 90 Trees From Destruction
(LARAMIE, WYOMING)--- January 30, 2008---- Shred-it, a confidential document destruction company, has recently presented Trihydro a Certificate of Environmental Accomplishment for 2007 . According to Shred-it, through participating in the shredding and recycling program, Trihydro was successful in saving 90 trees from destruction.
Shred-it destroys documents by turning them into confetti-sized pieces of paper. The shredded paper is then transferred to a recycling facility, where it is returned to the marketplace in the form of recycled household paper products. Under the Shred-it program 200 pounds of paper is equivalent to a single tree. In 2007, Trihydro recycled 4,500 pounds of paper.
“Trihydro continues to hold a strong commitment to recycling,” said Jack Bedessem, Trihydro President. “Many of the incentives we have implemented are a result of ideas from our employees. We are proud of our employee's commitment to leading the way toward a healthier environment.”
Recycling Facts
- To produce each Sunday's newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down.
- If only 100,000 people stopped their junk mail, 150,000 trees could be saved annually. If a million people did this, up to 1.5 million trees could be saved.
- A ton (2,000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water.
- Each year 17 trees absorb a total of 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air.
