Representative Projects: Insurance

Location: Western United States
Project Overview: Trihydro was contracted by a private insurance company to evaluate a proposed remediation and re-development plan for a former Air Force Base located in the Western United States. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine if:

  • The previous investigations and site assessments had adequately determined the nature, degree, and extent of potential environmental impacts;
  • The proposed remediation program would be effective in addressing the identified environmental impacts to soil, groundwater, and surface water quality;
  • The proposed remediation and assessment programs had satisfied the relevant and applicable environmental rules and regulations; and
  • The proposed re-development program would represent an acceptable risk to human health and/or the environment.

To evaluate the proposed remediation programs, Trihydro attended several presentations/meetings held by the private corporation proposing to re-develop the former Air Force Base site. Trihydro also performed an independent review of the environmental files and previously published investigation, risk assessment, and interim remedial action results. Following the presentations and file review, Trihydro personnel visited the former Air Force Base to confirm current site conditions. Results of the remediation and re-development plan evaluation were presented to the private insurance company in a summary report that outlined potential risks, data-gaps, and recommendations for further study.

Based upon the Trihydro evaluation, the private insurance company was able to make more educated and informed decisions regarding specific elements of the proposed remediation stop loss and legal liability policy.
