Introduction
Trihydro’s Sustainability Committee is pleased to share with you the 2016/2017 Sustainability Report.
In this report, you will find a presentation of Trihydro’s efforts to invigorate our workforce, protect our
environment, and support our local communities.
To develop this report, the Sustainability Committee members reflected on Trihydro’s previous progress
towards sustainability. We reviewed past reports, assessed previous goals, and interviewed long-term
employees. What we found was Trihydro’s growing commitment towards corporate social responsibility, or
CSR. Major corporations around the world have embraced CSR as a way to demonstrate responsibility for
their company’s effect on environmental and social wellbeing. As an environmental firm, it is an integral part
of Trihydro’s business platform to understand and mitigate our social, economic, and environmental impacts.
Or as company President and CEO Jack Bedessem would say, to “Leave it better than you found it.”
Looking Back
Since 2011, Trihydro has been documenting its sustainability effort and publishing sustainability reports.
Early reports included green-house gas emission inventories, office recycling efforts, volunteering and
other contributions to our communities, as well as highlighting our people and projects. It was in that
very first report that Trihydro mentioned “corporate responsibility”: “Our goal is to continue strengthening
[our] values through corporate responsibility.” Trihydro also spoke about “social responsibility”: “Social
responsibility is at the heart of our values and permeates everything we do.” Then, in the 2012/2013
Sustainability Report, a vision started to materialize, where Trihydro committed to “not resting on our
laurels” and improving the way we do business in four distinct categories: communication, environment,
community, and vision. Although not called it at the time, this is recognized as Trihydro’s first expression of
corporate social responsibility.
