IN VEHICLE MONITORING SYSTEM

In 2015 Trihydro launched an In Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS). This system tracks six driving
statistics: speeding, seatbelt usage, backing up when leaving, harsh breaking, harsh acceleration,
and harsh cornering. The goal of this system is not only to improve 3D driving skills but also to
track fuel usage and efficiency. By tracking fuel usage and idling time, Trihydro can gauge where
we can cut back on our fuel costs and emissions.

Since Trihydro has launched the IVMS, the data reveals that we spend a significant amount of time
idling our fleet vehicles. Idling is considered to be any time a vehicle is stationary and running for
greater than 5 minutes. For a month of driving we spent 2,595 hours idling which equates to about
3,089 gallons of gas! If we can cut our idling time, we can significantly decrease our carbon footprint.

Another benefit to the IVMS is that it tracks miles per gallon (MPG) for each vehicle and sends
maintenance reports. If the vehicle isn’t running efficiently we can take the necessary steps to get it
repaired or we can evaluate switching that vehicle for one with better MPG.
