ENERGY STAR
EPA’s ENERGY STAR energy performance scale helps Trihydro assess how efficiently our buildings use
energy relative to similar buildings throughout the country. In 2014 and 2015, Trihydro met the Energy Star
qualifications for both of our Laramie buildings. Although Trihydro’s buildings were designed and built to be
energy efficient, national averages have progressively advanced, so we need to continue improving over time
to maintain the Energy Star rating. The primary driver of our building energy use is heating/cooling, lighting,
and IT infrastructure. We have realized greater efficiency via adjustments to our server room settings and as
computers become more efficient. The actions we all can take as individuals to control and reduce our utility
consumption are to always remember to turn off those lights and computers when they are not in use!

While the solar photovoltaic system installation system installation at our Main Headquarter building will
reduce our draw of power from the grid and our power costs, it will not make a difference in our Energy
Star rating. Energy Star performance ratings are intended to track and reward efficient energy use and
therefore are based on total energy consumption, regardless of the power source. The power generated by
our solar PV system is metered and is included in our Energy Star calculations and will not affect our future
Energy Star ranking.
