Texas Golf Course Drainage Infrastructure Enhancement
Trihydro partnered with the Olympia Hills Golf Course to strengthen and modernize its drainage infrastructure, delivering two major improvement projects that addressed long-standing erosion and capacity challenges.
Stabilizing the Embankment
The first project focused on stabilizing the embankment near hole #7 by installing 1,600 linear feet of polyvinyl chloride-coated gabions, effectively realigning the existing stream and preventing erosion. To improve accessibility, we also adjusted the golf cart path and installed a 50-foot by 12-foot prefabricated steel bridge, optimizing hydraulic flow.
Replacing the Culvert
In the second project, our team replaced a collapsed culvert with a stone block channel, increasing drainage capacity while seamlessly blending with the golf course’s scenic landscape. We added a prefabricated steel bridge for improved functionality.
Coordinating Permits
Both projects required permitting coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers, navigating archeological site considerations, and working around high groundwater levels that complicated construction. Additionally, severe storms interrupted progress, requiring adaptive planning to keep the projects on track. Despite these hurdles, the first project was completed in March 2021, while the second reached substantial completion in October 2024, reinforcing the course’s long-term sustainability and visual appeal.
