Working alongside clients and Trihydro’s in-house subject matter experts, our Technology Services and Solutions team develops innovative solutions for real-world problems. Our development team has partnered with the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) to create a snow detection algorithm using existing WYDOT webcams. This system was over 96% accurate in detecting snow on roadways. The snow detection model was developed through a process of classifying webcam images and then training a model based on the classified images. The process allows WYDOT to reduce the dependency on traffic management center (TMC) operators having to monitor webcams for the entire state.

Another example of Trihydro’s artificial intelligence and machine learning includes working with Flir cameras to automate the detection of leaking gas from field components. Our leak detection algorithms were built around streaming camera images and successfully allowed the detection of new leaks given a static camera feed. To build this model, Trihydro partnered with Flir to obtain data to accurately train models to detect leaks and leveraged the expertise of in-house air specialists.

Trihydro also used machine learning in its implementation of the Traveler Information Alexa skill, which involved training models with natural language processing and analysis. The Traveler Information Alexa skill allows users to ask about road conditions and closures throughout Wyoming and is available to the general public.

Since 1999, Trihydro has created and used GIS technologies to manage and evaluate spatial information for environmental and engineering projects. In addition to our modeling, cartographic design, and data management expertise, we interface with our internal software development team to collaborate on custom GIS solutions. These solutions range from web-enabled spatial analysis and searching of abandoned mine lands to automated predictive snow fence models. We have also developed mobile GIS applications to support our field teams and fulfill their data collection, navigation, and inspection requirements.
