WIFIA-Funds

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a Notice of Funding Availability on April 5, 2019 for a new round of Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) funding, which will provide approximately $6 billion in loans to support large water infrastructure projects. The EPA aims to leverage this round of funds to create new jobs and improve public health.

These latest WIFIA funds will prioritize construction-ready projects that promote water recycling and reuse, upgrade aging infrastructure, and reduce exposure to lead and emerging contaminants.

About WIFIA Funding
WIFIA is the EPA’s low-cost financing program, which was established in 2014 to improve U.S. water infrastructure. This program helps fund a variety of water and wastewater treatment, drought mitigation, water recycling, energy efficiency, and alternative water supply projects.

Program benefits include a fixed rate structure, customized repayment schedules, loan length up to 35 years after substantial project completion, and a deferred payment option.

How to Apply
Eligible borrowers include government entities, corporations, trusts, partnerships and joint ventures, and Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SFR) programs. Potential public and private borrowers can submit letters of interest to be considered for the program now through July 5, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
