Trihydro was contracted by Merck Sharpe and Dohme Corporation to create a stand-alone application for managing equipment fugitive emission factors at a manufacturing facility in Virginia. The air emissions data team had been using a complicated set of spreadsheets and manual processes that were getting increasingly difficult to manage due to increasing data volumes. The process of validating data quality was time consuming and required hundreds of hours of client and consultant support each year. The goal of this project was to remove opportunities for input errors and reduce the time required to input, conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and report data.
Trihydro completed this project in three phases: Phase I Needs Assessment and Requirements Gathering, Phase II Iterative Development, and Phase III Deployment/Hosting. The Phase I final recommendation involved developing the following three components: a new relational database using SQL Server 2008 R2, a client/desktop application, and web services.
The end result was a more efficient and cost-effective solution for the client, called MerckAIR™, which met the client requirements and was completed on time and within budget. Trihydro currently hosts the system and is providing ongoing support and maintenance.
