Trihydro continues to expand our capabilities and experience with the addition of our new risk assessor, Nyree Melancon.
Based at our Concord, CA office; Nyree has joined our Closed Facilities business unit, where she will perform Human Health Risk Assessments (HHRA) for sites under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), underground storage tank (UST), Voluntary Closure, and other regulatory programs for hazardous waste sites and facilities.
Prior to joining Trihydro; Nyree brings 20 years of environmental consulting experience and has worked on a variety of projects including military bases, landfills, mines, railroads, redevelopment projects, chemical manufacturing & distribution facilities, refineries, and service stations. One of her best career achievements was when she was a risk assessor for a Presidio on a former Army Base in San Francisco, CA. The Presidio had several contaminated sites that included beaches, wetlands, hiking/joggings trails, and playing fields. Her team was tasked with converting industrial land to parks and open spaces for locals and visitors to enjoy. One of the best parts of the project has been watching her daughters and friends visit the locations after the cleanup was complete.
Improving her community
Nyree enjoys projects that will make a positive impact to the local communities. According to her, “these projects typically are not the easiest to work on due to the passion of the local communities wanting the best outcome for the benefit of their families.” To her, it is amazing to see the way that communities interact with the remediated or redeveloped areas once projects are completed.
When she’s not at work
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, whether they are camping, hiking, or exploring towns in the foothills of the Sierras. When she isn’t enjoying the great outdoors; she can be found quilting, counted cross-stitching, reading, attending local car shows, or attending local comic conventions with her youngest daughter.
