2021 NYE Safety Tips

This year more than ever, we may want to gather with friends and family to see 2020 out, but we must remain vigilant in our effort to combat COVID-19. Staying home does not mean that we can’t interact with friends and family to celebrate. Here are some of our favorite ways to have some fun virtually:

Group trivia
Hop on a zoom call and test your group’s knowledge of each other with these sure-to-stir-the-pot questions.

Teleparty
With the Netflix Party app you can sync your video playback and add a group chat to Netflix, Disney, Hulu and HBO.

Online boardgames
Check out this list of classics that have been adapted for an online setting.

Now that you’ve got a few ideas on how to virtually gather and celebrate, let's take a moment to remember some safety tips for any celebration:

Drink responsibly
If you’re drinking alcohol, pace yourself. This article can help you determine your limit.

Make sure you are drinking water in between drinks. This will help your body metabolize the liquor, keep you hydrated, and prevent getting too drunk. In addition to drinking water, be sure you have enough food in your stomach to combat the alcohol consumption.

While it is probably best to stay home this year, if you go out and are going to drink – please don’t drive.

Careful with the pyrotechnics
Unfortunately, many local firework displays may be canceled this year, enticing people to buy their own. If you do decide to purchase fireworks, be sure to follow your local and state laws. If you’re unsure of the laws in your area, check this helpful tool.

Take extra precaution to think of your pets. Loud sounds may frighten them, and scared pets may become lost, hurt, cause accidents, and may even bite out of fear. Have a plan for them just as you have for yourself!

We are excited to ring in 2021. By following these simple guidelines, you’re sure to start the year off right.
