Trihydro Staff Participate in Annual Society of Women Engineers Banquet

Several Trihydro staff attended the University of Wyoming Chapter’s 6th Annual Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Banquet in Laramie, Wyoming on April 18, 2019.  The banquet is organized by SWE each year to facilitate networking, share SWE accomplishments, and create an encouraging environment for female engineering students. Students and faculty from the University of Wyoming and professionals from the community attended the event.

Christina Hiegel, P.E., Senior Engineer at Trihydro, was the keynote speaker at the event.  Speaking to more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students, Ms. Hiegel addressed the fact that only around 30% of the women that earn engineering degrees will work or remain working in the engineering field.

“These young women have chosen a career that is not only rewarding but requires some of the most amazing minds in the world,” said Ms. Hiegel.  “One of the best things we can encourage them to do is find themselves a great mentor and surround themselves with other strong and capable women both at work and in their personal lives so that they continue to contribute their great ideas to the world.”

Her talk was followed by a professional panel that included Ms. Hiegel, Ms. Caitlin Fields from Trihydro, and Ms. Amy Allen from the City of Cheyenne.  Key topics of discussion included how to be a leader, ways to teach others and keep learning, acknowledging professional capability and value, and tips for creating a great network.
